Components include <\/span><span><strong>demobilizations, defusings, CISD debriefings, one\u2011on\u2011one peer support, crisis management briefings, family and community briefings,<\/strong><\/span><span> and <\/span><span><strong>follow\u2011up\/referral.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span>What CISM Is\u2014and Is Not<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>\n<p><span><strong>Is:<\/strong><\/span><span> immediate, practical support; education about common reactions; normalization; connection; hope; and referral when needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><span><strong>Is not:<\/strong><\/span><span> an investigation, operational critique, or psychotherapy. It never replaces professional treatment when that is indicated.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span>Evidence\u2011Informed<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span>CISM reflects decades of field use across fire, law enforcement, EMS, military, and healthcare. Research and practice emphasize that support should be <\/span><span><strong>timely, simple, and connected<\/strong><\/span><span> to the environment in which responders work.
