An outdoor kitchen turns the patio into the most-used room in the house

Looking for outdoor kitchens in Plainville, MA? Ten Four Landscape & Construction has handled it for homeowners, business owners and property managers across Norfolk County since 2012. Our Wrentham yard is also about fifteen minutes away.

Outdoor kitchens are the upgrade that changes how a family uses the yard from May through October. Instead of running in and out of the house all evening, the cooking, the drinks and the conversation all happen outside. You get a counter that does not wobble and a grill you never have to drag out of the garage. Plainville homeowners have relied on us as their local landscaper for years. So we bring that same approach to every outdoor kitchens job in town.

We build the kitchen as a permanent structure on the same compacted base as the patio and frame it in block or masonry. Then we finish it in stone veneer or matching pavers and top it with granite, bluestone or concrete counters. We set built-in grills, burners, refrigerators, sinks and storage into the frame. Then we coordinate the gas and electrical work with licensed trades, so the whole thing happens right and happens once.

Why Plainville, MA homeowners call Ten Four for Outdoor Kitchens

Plainville sits just south of our Wrentham yard along Route 1, so it is one of the shortest drives we make. The town is a mix of established neighborhoods off South Street and Messenger Street, newer developments toward the North Attleboro line, and homes around Turnpike Lake and Lake Mirimichi. There is also busy commercial frontage on Route 1 and Route 152 near Plainridge Park. Many of our Plainville customers are homeowners who want one reliable crew for the whole property instead of three different vendors.

Plainville soils run sandier and better-drained than the ledge-heavy ground to the north, especially along the Ten Mile River and the wetlands on the west side of town. But sandy soil brings its own problems. Lawns burn out in August, fertilizer leaches away before the grass can use it, and plantings need real soil amendment to establish. We also see plenty of stone and hardpan in the older neighborhoods, so we never assume what is under the surface until we dig.

Outdoor Kitchens benefits for Plainville, MA properties

  • Cooking and hosting outside without the back-and-forth
  • A permanent, level, weatherproof kitchen that lasts
  • Counters, storage and seating that make the patio a room
  • Real value added to the home
  • Everything coordinated by one crew instead of five contractors

Problems we fix most often

Most people in Plainville call us about outdoor kitchens because something has already gone wrong. Others, meanwhile, want to make sure it never does. In short, these are the issues we see most often. Every one of them is also preventable when we do the work right the first time:

  • A grill on wheels and a folding table that never look right
  • Running in and out of the house all evening
  • A prefab kitchen kit that rusted or cracked in two winters
  • A counter that wobbles because it sits on pavers set on soil
  • No plan for gas, water or power, so nothing works right
  • A patio with no place to gather while someone cooks

What’s included

  • Layout and design matched to the patio and how you cook
  • Compacted base and patio surface for the kitchen area
  • Block or masonry frame with stone veneer or paver finish
  • Granite, bluestone or concrete countertops
  • Built-in grill, burners, refrigeration and storage cutouts
  • Coordination of gas, water and electrical with licensed trades

Above all, every one of those items is part of the price we quote, not an upsell. When we scope outdoor kitchens for a Plainville property, we spell out exactly what you get. So there are no surprises on the invoice, and no corners cut where you cannot see them.

How Outdoor Kitchens works in Plainville, MA

We keep the process simple and predictable so you always know what is happening and what comes next. Here is how a outdoor kitchens job runs in Plainville, MA with Ten Four, from the first call to the final walkthrough. The owner is also reachable at every step.

01

Plan the layout

We map the cooking zone, prep space, bar seating and where the gas, water and power will come from, so the kitchen works the way you cook.

02

Build the base

The kitchen sits on a compacted stone base with the patio, never on pavers over soil, so the counters stay level.

03

Frame and finish

Block or masonry frame, finished in stone or pavers to match the rest of the hardscape, with counters templated and set.

04

Install and connect

We set the appliances, and licensed trades we coordinate for you connect the gas, water and electrical.

What drives the price

Honest answer: we price outdoor kitchens in Plainville, MA by the job rather than off a rate card. Why? Because no two properties are the same. Generally, anyone who quotes a firm price over the phone without seeing the site is guessing. That guess usually turns into a change order later. So here are a few of the things that move the price up or down:

Length of counter and the number of appliances

Countertop material and stone or paver finish

Gas, water and electrical runs and the trades required

Patio work and a fire feature or seating added at the same time

When to schedule Outdoor Kitchens in Plainville, MA

We build outdoor kitchens spring through early winter, usually as part of a patio project or an addition to an existing one. A kitchen planned over the winter can be ready by Memorial Day; one started in late summer is ready for fall cooking. Appliance lead times can be several weeks, so plan early.

Signs it’s time to call

  • You cook outside most nights all summer
  • Your guests end up outside while you cook, and you want to be out there too
  • You are planning a new patio and want it to be more than a slab
  • Your grill setup looks temporary because it is

Why choose Ten Four for Outdoor Kitchens in Plainville, MA

Certainly, plenty of people will quote you outdoor kitchens in Plainville. But here is what you get with Ten Four Landscape & Construction that you do not get everywhere else:

  • Built on a real base — the kitchen sits on compacted stone, so counters stay level.
  • Designed for how you cook — layout, prep space and seating planned before we build anything.

  • Everything in writing — a free written estimate with the scope spelled out before any work starts.

You might be near the town center on South Street, out toward the Foxboro line or in a neighborhood off Route 106. Either way, we are only minutes away and happy to walk the property with you.

Outdoor Kitchens questions from Plainville, MA customers

How much do outdoor kitchens cost in Plainville, MA?
It depends on the size of the property, site access and the materials involved, as well as the season. Estimates for outdoor kitchens in Plainville, MA are free and in writing. Seth also walks the property with you first, so the number reflects the real job, not a guess.
What does an outdoor kitchen include?
Most include a built-in grill, counter space, storage and often a refrigerator, side burner and bar seating. A sink and water are optional. We build to what you will actually use.
Can you add a kitchen to my existing patio?
Yes, if the base is sound. If the patio sits on soil, we rebuild that section so the kitchen does not settle.
What counter material is best outdoors?
Granite is the most durable and popular. Bluestone and sealed concrete are also good choices. We avoid materials that stain or crack in freeze-thaw.

More Outdoor Kitchens questions, answered

Do you handle the gas and electrical?
We coordinate licensed plumbers and electricians as part of the project, so you do not have to manage them.
How long does it take?
Two to three weeks for the kitchen itself, longer if it is part of a full patio project, plus appliance lead times.
Should I get a pergola or roof over it?
Many customers add a pergola or pavilion for shade and rain. We can build the kitchen so you can add a structure now or later.

Plainville history and geography

History

Originally included in a 1635 grant of land for Dedham, Massachusetts, the area was later deemed the Plantation of Wollomonuppoag and then later becoming Wrentham, Massachusetts before Plainville branched out as a separate community. Plainville became an officially recognized town on April 4, 1905, making it the third youngest town in the state, behind Millville (1916) and East Brookfield (1920).
One of the earliest documentations of Plainville being settled is from 1674, when a Wampanoag man by the name of Matchinamook petitioned and received a few acres of land at the head of the Ten Mile River, at present day Fuller's Dam. As Matchinamook was a native warrior under Wampanoag chieftain Metacomet, or more commonly known in the area as King Philip, he most likely fought during King Philip's War. In its early days, Plainville was nicknamed Slackville after Benjamin Slack, an affluent landowner at the time. After the establishment of a post office in 1856, Plainville became the town name after the abundance of geographical plains in the area. In 1905, Plainville officially separated from Wrentham and became its own town.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 11.6 square miles (30 km²), of which 11.1 square miles (29 km²) is land and 0.5 square miles (1.3 km²) (4.24%) is water.
Plainville borders the towns of Wrentham, Foxborough, Mansfield, North Attleboro, and Cumberland, Rhode Island.

Infrastructure

In 2019, Plainville opened a new $34 million Municipal Complex, which included new space for the Town Hall, Fire Department, and Police. These were sited adjacent to a pre-existing public library on South Street. The new Town Hall replaced one that had been originally built in 1938 as a fire station. The Municipal Complex was funded by tax revenue from a local casino.
