An outdoor kitchen turns the patio into the most-used room in the house

Looking for outdoor kitchens in Wrentham, MA? Ten Four Landscape & Construction has handled it for homeowners, business owners and property managers across Norfolk County since 2012. Our Wrentham yard is also right here in town.

Outdoor kitchens are the upgrade that changes how a family uses the yard from May through October. Instead of running in and out of the house all evening, the cooking, the drinks and the conversation all happen outside. You get a counter that does not wobble and a grill you never have to drag out of the garage. Wrentham homeowners have relied on us as their local landscaper for years. So we bring that same approach to every outdoor kitchens job in town.

We build the kitchen as a permanent structure on the same compacted base as the patio and frame it in block or masonry. Then we finish it in stone veneer or matching pavers and top it with granite, bluestone or concrete counters. We set built-in grills, burners, refrigerators, sinks and storage into the frame. Then we coordinate the gas and electrical work with licensed trades, so the whole thing happens right and happens once.

Why Wrentham, MA homeowners call Ten Four for Outdoor Kitchens

Wrentham is home base for Ten Four. Our yard sits on West Street, so a job anywhere in town is close-to-home work for us. That includes the historic common where Route 1A meets Route 140 as well as the Sheldonville neighborhoods on the west side. We know the properties here: large wooded lots with granite ledge just under the topsoil, and older village homes with mature trees and tired plantings. Then there are the newer subdivisions, where builder-grade grading and a thin layer of loam turn into drainage and lawn problems within a few seasons.

Much of Wrentham sits on glacial till over ledge, which means shallow bedrock in places, stones in every shovelful and soil that drains unevenly. Low ground around Lake Pearl and Lake Archer stays wet well into spring, while the higher, rockier lots dry out fast in July. That combination is exactly why base preparation, drainage and soil correction matter so much here. It is also why we look at the ground before we put a number on paper.

Outdoor Kitchens benefits for Wrentham, MA properties

  • Cooking and hosting outside without the back-and-forth
  • A permanent, level, weatherproof kitchen that lasts
  • Counters, storage and seating that make the patio a room
  • Real value added to the home
  • Everything coordinated by one crew instead of five contractors

Problems we fix most often

Most people in Wrentham call us about outdoor kitchens because something has already gone wrong. Others, meanwhile, want to make sure it never does. In short, these are the issues we see most often. Every one of them is also preventable when we do the work right the first time:

  • A grill on wheels and a folding table that never look right
  • Running in and out of the house all evening
  • A prefab kitchen kit that rusted or cracked in two winters
  • A counter that wobbles because it sits on pavers set on soil
  • No plan for gas, water or power, so nothing works right
  • A patio with no place to gather while someone cooks

What’s included

  • Layout and design matched to the patio and how you cook
  • Compacted base and patio surface for the kitchen area
  • Block or masonry frame with stone veneer or paver finish
  • Granite, bluestone or concrete countertops
  • Built-in grill, burners, refrigeration and storage cutouts
  • Coordination of gas, water and electrical with licensed trades

Above all, every one of those items is part of the price we quote, not an upsell. When we scope outdoor kitchens for a Wrentham property, we spell out exactly what you get. So there are no surprises on the invoice, and no corners cut where you cannot see them.

How Outdoor Kitchens works in Wrentham, MA

We keep the process simple and predictable so you always know what is happening and what comes next. Here is how a outdoor kitchens job runs in Wrentham, MA with Ten Four, from the first call to the final walkthrough. The owner is also reachable at every step.

01

Plan the layout

We map the cooking zone, prep space, bar seating and where the gas, water and power will come from, so the kitchen works the way you cook.

02

Build the base

The kitchen sits on a compacted stone base with the patio, never on pavers over soil, so the counters stay level.

03

Frame and finish

Block or masonry frame, finished in stone or pavers to match the rest of the hardscape, with counters templated and set.

04

Install and connect

We set the appliances, and licensed trades we coordinate for you connect the gas, water and electrical.

What drives the price

Honest answer: we price outdoor kitchens in Wrentham, MA by the job rather than off a rate card. Why? Because no two properties are the same. Generally, anyone who quotes a firm price over the phone without seeing the site is guessing. That guess usually turns into a change order later. So here are a few of the things that move the price up or down:

Length of counter and the number of appliances

Countertop material and stone or paver finish

Gas, water and electrical runs and the trades required

Patio work and a fire feature or seating added at the same time

When to schedule Outdoor Kitchens in Wrentham, MA

We build outdoor kitchens spring through early winter, usually as part of a patio project or an addition to an existing one. A kitchen planned over the winter can be ready by Memorial Day; one started in late summer is ready for fall cooking. Appliance lead times can be several weeks, so plan early.

Signs it’s time to call

  • You cook outside most nights all summer
  • Your guests end up outside while you cook, and you want to be out there too
  • You are planning a new patio and want it to be more than a slab
  • Your grill setup looks temporary because it is

Outdoor Kitchens questions from Wrentham, MA customers

How much do outdoor kitchens cost in Wrentham, MA?
It depends on the size of the property, site access and the materials involved, as well as the season. Estimates for outdoor kitchens in Wrentham, MA are free and in writing. Seth also walks the property with you first, so the number reflects the real job, not a guess.
What does an outdoor kitchen include?
Most include a built-in grill, counter space, storage and often a refrigerator, side burner and bar seating. A sink and water are optional. We build to what you will actually use.
Can you add a kitchen to my existing patio?
Yes, if the base is sound. If the patio sits on soil, we rebuild that section so the kitchen does not settle.
What counter material is best outdoors?
Granite is the most durable and popular. Bluestone and sealed concrete are also good choices. We avoid materials that stain or crack in freeze-thaw.

More Outdoor Kitchens questions, answered

Do you handle the gas and electrical?
We coordinate licensed plumbers and electricians as part of the project, so you do not have to manage them.
How long does it take?
Two to three weeks for the kitchen itself, longer if it is part of a full patio project, plus appliance lead times.
Should I get a pergola or roof over it?
Many customers add a pergola or pavilion for shade and rain. We can build the kitchen so you can add a structure now or later.

Wrentham history and geography

History

In 1660, five men from Dedham were sent to explore the lakes near George Indian's wigwam and to report back to the selectmen what they found. The report of those men, Daniel Fisher, Anthony Fisher, Sgt. Fuller, Richard Ellis, and Richard Wheeler, was received with such enthusiasm that in March 1661 it was voted to start a new settlement there. The Town then voted to send Ellis and Timothy Dwight to go negotiate with King Philip to purchase the title to the area known as Wollomonopoag.
They purchased 600 acres of land for £24, 6s. The money was paid out of pocket by Captain Willett, who accompanied Ellis and Dwight. The Town voted to assess a tax upon the cow commons to repay him, but some thought the money should be paid by those who would be moving to the new village. The dispute resulted in Willet not being paid back for several years.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 22.9 square miles (59 km²), of which 22.2 square miles (57 km²) is land and 0.7 square miles (1.8 km²) (3.14%) is water. Wrentham is bordered by Norfolk on the north, Foxboro on the east, Plainville and Cumberland, Rhode Island on the south, Bellingham on the southwest, and Franklin on the west. It has two large lakes towards the center of town, Lake Pearl and Lake Archer, as well as Mirror Lake on the Wrentham/Norfolk border and numerous smaller lakes.
Sheldonville, or West Wrentham, is a rural section of Wrentham located on the western leg of town. Sheldonville still maintains a unique identity as the old farming section of Wrentham, has active commercial orchards, and has its own ZIP Code (02070). Wrentham drains into four watersheds. They are the Charles River to the north, the Taunton River to the east, the Blackstone River to the west, and the Ten Mile River to the south.
Wrentham is the only town of that name in the United States. It is named after the village of Wrentham, Suffolk, England. The only other Wrentham is Wrentham, Alberta. Wrentham, Massachusetts, is by far the most populous of the three.
