Landscaper service in Wrentham, MA

Every good project starts with the site done right

Looking for sitework in Wrentham, MA? Ten Four Landscape & Construction has handled it for homeowners, business owners and property managers across Norfolk County since 2012. Our Wrentham yard is also right here in town.

Sitework is the part of a project nobody photographs and everybody depends on. The grade that keeps water out of the basement, the compacted base under the driveway, the trench for the drain line and the restoration after the pool company leaves are all sitework. All of it has to be right before anything built on top of it can be. Wrentham homeowners have relied on us as their local landscaper for years. So we bring that same approach to every sitework job in town.

We run our own excavators, skid steers and compaction equipment. So we can handle a yard restoration after a septic replacement, a driveway base, a drainage trench or the excavation for a full landscape project. There is no waiting on someone else. We shoot grades with a laser, manage spoils responsibly and leave the site clean and ready for whatever comes next.

Why Wrentham, MA homeowners call Ten Four for Sitework

Wrentham is home base for Ten Four. Our yard sits on West Street, so a job anywhere in town is close-to-home work for us. That includes the historic common where Route 1A meets Route 140 as well as the Sheldonville neighborhoods on the west side. We know the properties here: large wooded lots with granite ledge just under the topsoil, and older village homes with mature trees and tired plantings. Then there are the newer subdivisions, where builder-grade grading and a thin layer of loam turn into drainage and lawn problems within a few seasons.

Much of Wrentham sits on glacial till over ledge, which means shallow bedrock in places, stones in every shovelful and soil that drains unevenly. Low ground around Lake Pearl and Lake Archer stays wet well into spring, while the higher, rockier lots dry out fast in July. That combination is exactly why base preparation, drainage and soil correction matter so much here. It is also why we look at the ground before we put a number on paper.

Sitework benefits for Wrentham, MA properties

  • Water moved away from the house for good
  • A yard restored to lawn and beds after construction
  • Bases that stay flat under driveways, pads and hardscape
  • One crew with its own equipment instead of a chain of subcontractors
  • A site that is ready for the next project

Problems we fix most often

Most people in Wrentham call us about sitework because something has already gone wrong. Others, meanwhile, want to make sure it never does. In short, these are the issues we see most often. Every one of them is also preventable when we do the work right the first time:

  • Water running toward the house because nobody ever graded the lot properly
  • A yard destroyed by a pool, septic or foundation project and left as dirt
  • Stumps and brush taking over the back of the property
  • A gravel driveway that washes out every spring
  • A pad or shed base with no compaction under it
  • Waiting weeks for an excavator to fit you in

What’s included

  • Excavation and trenching
  • Rough and finish grading to move water away from structures
  • Compacted base for driveways, pads and hardscape
  • Brush clearing and small stump removal
  • Site restoration with loam and lawn after construction
  • Drainage installation and material hauling

Above all, every one of those items is part of the price we quote, not an upsell. When we scope sitework for a Wrentham property, we spell out exactly what you get. So there are no surprises on the invoice, and no corners cut where you cannot see them.

How Sitework works in Wrentham, MA

We keep the process simple and predictable so you always know what is happening and what comes next. Here is how a sitework job runs in Wrentham, MA with Ten Four, from the first call to the final walkthrough. The owner is also reachable at every step.

01

Look at the water

Every site plan starts with where water comes from and where it needs to go. We shoot the grades and plan the drainage before we dig.

02

Excavate and grade

Our own equipment handles the excavation, trenching and rough grading, with spoils managed and hauled as needed.

03

Compact and base

Driveways, pads and hardscape areas get a compacted stone base built in lifts so they do not settle.

04

Restore and finish

Finish grading, loam and lawn or beds put the property back together, cleaner than we found it.

What drives the price

Honest answer: we price sitework in Wrentham, MA by the job rather than off a rate card. Why? Because no two properties are the same. Generally, anyone who quotes a firm price over the phone without seeing the site is guessing. That guess usually turns into a change order later. So here are a few of the things that move the price up or down:

Volume of excavation and material to move or haul

Grading area and how much loam the job needs

Drainage, base and compaction requirements

Access, ledge and disposal

When to schedule Sitework in Wrentham, MA

Sitework runs from the spring thaw until the ground freezes. Restoration after pool and septic projects is best done immediately so the yard does not erode all summer. Driveway and pad bases need dry conditions, so late spring through fall is ideal.

Signs it’s time to call

  • Water pools against the foundation or floods the yard
  • A construction project left the yard as a dirt lot
  • You need a base for a driveway, shed, pad or patio
  • Brush and stumps have taken over part of the property

Wrentham history and geography

History

In 1660, five men from Dedham were sent to explore the lakes near George Indian's wigwam and to report back to the selectmen what they found. The report of those men, Daniel Fisher, Anthony Fisher, Sgt. Fuller, Richard Ellis, and Richard Wheeler, was received with such enthusiasm that in March 1661 it was voted to start a new settlement there. The Town then voted to send Ellis and Timothy Dwight to go negotiate with King Philip to purchase the title to the area known as Wollomonopoag.
They purchased 600 acres of land for £24, 6s. The money was paid out of pocket by Captain Willett, who accompanied Ellis and Dwight. The Town voted to assess a tax upon the cow commons to repay him, but some thought the money should be paid by those who would be moving to the new village. The dispute resulted in Willet not being paid back for several years.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 22.9 square miles (59 km²), of which 22.2 square miles (57 km²) is land and 0.7 square miles (1.8 km²) (3.14%) is water. Wrentham is bordered by Norfolk on the north, Foxboro on the east, Plainville and Cumberland, Rhode Island on the south, Bellingham on the southwest, and Franklin on the west. It has two large lakes towards the center of town, Lake Pearl and Lake Archer, as well as Mirror Lake on the Wrentham/Norfolk border and numerous smaller lakes.
Sheldonville, or West Wrentham, is a rural section of Wrentham located on the western leg of town. Sheldonville still maintains a unique identity as the old farming section of Wrentham, has active commercial orchards, and has its own ZIP Code (02070). Wrentham drains into four watersheds. They are the Charles River to the north, the Taunton River to the east, the Blackstone River to the west, and the Ten Mile River to the south.
Wrentham is the only town of that name in the United States. It is named after the village of Wrentham, Suffolk, England. The only other Wrentham is Wrentham, Alberta. Wrentham, Massachusetts, is by far the most populous of the three.
