Landscaper service in Norfolk, MA

You should not have to choose between the back yard and Lyme disease

Looking for mosquito & tick spraying in Norfolk, MA? Ten Four Landscape & Construction has handled it for homeowners, business owners and property managers across Norfolk County since 2012. Our Wrentham yard is also about twenty minutes away.

Mosquito and tick spraying is a health service as much as a comfort one. Norfolk County has some of the highest tick-borne disease rates in the state, and mosquitoes make a summer evening on the patio miserable. Most properties here back up to exactly the woods, stone walls and wetlands where both thrive. Norfolk homeowners have relied on us as their local landscaper for years. So we bring that same approach to every mosquito & tick spraying job in town.

We apply a barrier treatment to the places that matter: the wood line, brush, tall grass edges, stone walls and under decks. The treatment also covers the foundation plantings and the shady, damp spots mosquitoes rest in during the day. We time treatments every three to four weeks from late spring through the first frost. You can also add an early-season and late-fall tick treatment to catch the nymphs and adults when they are most active.

Why Norfolk, MA homeowners call Ten Four for Mosquito & Tick Spraying

Norfolk is a small, wooded residential town directly north of our Wrentham yard, so we are in Norfolk almost every week. Most properties here are single-family homes on generous lots: subdivisions built from the 1980s onward, and older homes along Main Street near the town center and the MBTA station. There are also rural parcels out toward the Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary and the Charles River side of town.

The ground in Norfolk is a mix of rocky glacial till on the uplands and wet, peaty soil in the lowlands. That wet ground sits near the Stop River, the Charles River and the ponds. Many lots have a high seasonal water table. It shows up as a soggy lawn in April, a heaving walkway in March and water in the basement after a thaw. Nearly every home is on a septic system, so we plan equipment routes and any excavation around the leach field before we start.

Mosquito & Tick Spraying benefits for Norfolk, MA properties

  • Dramatically fewer mosquitoes on the patio and in the yard
  • Far fewer ticks, which means lower risk of Lyme and other diseases
  • A yard the whole family actually uses all summer
  • Treatments targeted to habitat, not sprayed everywhere
  • Local crew, licensed applicators, one schedule

Problems we fix most often

Most people in Norfolk call us about mosquito & tick spraying because something has already gone wrong. Others, meanwhile, want to make sure it never does. In short, these are the issues we see most often. Every one of them is also preventable when we do the work right the first time:

  • Mosquitoes driving everyone inside by seven in the evening
  • Ticks on the kids and the dog after every trip into the yard
  • A property that backs up to woods, wetlands or stone walls
  • Store-bought foggers that work for a day
  • Worry about Lyme, anaplasmosis and EEE in this part of the state
  • Not knowing what is safe around children, pets and the vegetable garden

What’s included

  • Property inspection to find breeding and resting areas
  • Barrier treatment of wood lines, brush, walls and shady beds
  • Treatments every three to four weeks through the season
  • Early spring and late fall tick-focused applications
  • Advice on standing water, leaf litter and habitat reduction
  • Optional treatment before parties and events

Above all, every one of those items is part of the price we quote, not an upsell. When we scope mosquito & tick spraying for a Norfolk property, we spell out exactly what you get. So there are no surprises on the invoice, and no corners cut where you cannot see them.

How Mosquito & Tick Spraying works in Norfolk, MA

We keep the process simple and predictable so you always know what is happening and what comes next. Here is how a mosquito & tick spraying job runs in Norfolk, MA with Ten Four, from the first call to the final walkthrough. The owner is also reachable at every step.

01

Inspect the property

We find where mosquitoes rest and ticks wait: wood lines, stone walls, leaf litter, tall grass, under decks and standing water.

02

Treat the barrier

A targeted application to those areas, not a blanket spray of the whole lawn, applied by a trained crew following the label.

03

Repeat on schedule

Every three to four weeks from May into October, plus tick applications timed to the nymph and adult seasons.

04

Reduce the habitat

We point out the gutters, buckets, leaf piles and brush that breed and harbor pests so the treatments work even better.

What drives the price

Honest answer: we price mosquito & tick spraying in Norfolk, MA by the job rather than off a rate card. Why? Because no two properties are the same. Generally, anyone who quotes a firm price over the phone without seeing the site is guessing. That guess usually turns into a change order later. So here are a few of the things that move the price up or down:

Property size and the length of wood line and edge to treat

Number of treatments in the season

Add-on tick applications or event treatments

Bundling with a maintenance program

When to schedule Mosquito & Tick Spraying in Norfolk, MA

Tick treatments start as early as April when nymphs become active, and mosquito treatments run from mid-May through the first hard frost in October. Signing up before the season starts means the first treatment goes down before the population explodes. We can schedule special event treatments with a few days notice.

Signs it’s time to call

  • You cannot sit outside after dinner without the bugs eating you alive
  • Ticks are showing up on family members or pets
  • The property borders woods, wetlands, tall grass or stone walls
  • You want the yard safe for kids and pets this summer

Norfolk history and geography

History

Norfolk is a suburban town on the periphery of metropolitan Boston, located on an upper valley of the Charles River. The land was originally part of Dedham, which was incorporated in 1636. There were a half dozen small farms in the area after 1669, the result of a determined effort to populate the colonial frontier, despite the remoteness of the area. Wrentham separated from Dedham in 1673; what is now Norfolk was in the northern part of Wrentham. The farms were abandoned during King Philip's War in 1675–76, but repopulated later that century.
As further settlement occurred in the late 17th and 18th centuries, agriculture and cattle grazing were joined by lumbering and planting of orchards. Small villages formed around sawmills and gristmills including City Mills (1680), Mann Pond/Highland Lake (after 1691), and Pondville (after 1730). The village center of North Wrentham formed in the late 18th century. After 1812, three cotton manufacturing companies were established at Stony Brook, and later in the 19th century George Campbell's paper mill was opened at Highland Lake making heavy wrapping and building papers. The Norfolk County Railroad opened in 1849, with North Wrentham station near the village center. North Wrentham separated from Wrentham in 1870 and was incorporated as Norfolk.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 15.2 square miles (39 km²), of which 14.8 square miles (38 km²) is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 km²) (2.30%) is water.

Infrastructure

The Town of Norfolk instituted a Department of Public Works in 2004 which consolidated much of its infrastructure and is now responsible for eight divisions. These Divisions are Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Solid Waste, Highways, Trees, Vehicle Maintenance and Grounds which are all managed by a Director.
The Norfolk Airpark (FAA airport code 32M) had one 2,700-foot (820 m) north–south runway and is about 2 miles (3 km) west of the town center. In recent years, however, the airpark has been closed down and is currently in a state of disrepair. A seven house cul-de-sac known as Tailwind Cir now exists where the hangars used to stand while the remaining airport property is now conservation land known as Leland Wild.
