Landscaper service in Norfolk, MA

A clean-up is where the whole season starts, or where it quietly falls apart

Looking for spring & fall clean-up in Norfolk, MA? Ten Four Landscape & Construction has handled it for homeowners, business owners and property managers across Norfolk County since 2012. Our Wrentham yard is also about twenty minutes away.

Spring and fall clean-ups are the two visits that set up everything else. A spring clean-up that misses the thatch, the matted leaves and the winter debris means a slow, patchy lawn and beds that fight weeds all summer. A fall clean-up that leaves leaves on the grass means snow mold, dead patches and a mess to deal with in April. Norfolk homeowners have relied on us as their local landscaper for years. So we bring that same approach to every spring & fall clean-up job in town.

We treat a clean-up as a working visit, not a leaf-blowing drive-by. We cut back and edge every bed, rake or dethatch every lawn area as needed, clear gutters and hardscape on request, and haul everything away the same day. You get a property that looks reset and a lawn that is ready for the next step, whether that is fertilizer, seeding or the first mow.

Why Norfolk, MA homeowners call Ten Four for Spring & Fall Clean-Up

Norfolk is a small, wooded residential town directly north of our Wrentham yard, so we are in Norfolk almost every week. Most properties here are single-family homes on generous lots: subdivisions built from the 1980s onward, and older homes along Main Street near the town center and the MBTA station. There are also rural parcels out toward the Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary and the Charles River side of town.

The ground in Norfolk is a mix of rocky glacial till on the uplands and wet, peaty soil in the lowlands. That wet ground sits near the Stop River, the Charles River and the ponds. Many lots have a high seasonal water table. It shows up as a soggy lawn in April, a heaving walkway in March and water in the basement after a thaw. Nearly every home is on a septic system, so we plan equipment routes and any excavation around the leach field before we start.

Spring & Fall Clean-Up benefits for Norfolk, MA properties

  • The lawn greens up faster and more evenly in spring
  • Beds are ready for mulch and planting instead of full of debris
  • You prevent snow mold, matted grass and dead spots before they start
  • The property looks finished twice a year, at the moments it matters most
  • Debris is gone the same day, not sitting at the curb

Problems we fix most often

Most people in Norfolk call us about spring & fall clean-up because something has already gone wrong. Others, meanwhile, want to make sure it never does. In short, these are the issues we see most often. Every one of them is also preventable when we do the work right the first time:

  • Leaves left on the lawn over winter, causing snow mold and dead spots
  • A quick blow-and-go that leaves matted debris in the beds
  • Perennials and ornamental grasses never cut back, so beds look ragged by May
  • Piles left at the curb for weeks because nobody hauled them
  • Sticks, cones and winter debris chewed up by the first mow
  • Gutters and drains clogged with leaves and overflowing onto walkways

What’s included

  • Leaf and debris removal from lawns, beds and hardscape
  • Cutting back perennials, grasses and spent growth
  • Bed edging and light pruning as appropriate for the season
  • Raking or dethatching matted lawn areas
  • First or final mow of the season
  • Same-day haul-away of all debris

Above all, every one of those items is part of the price we quote, not an upsell. When we scope spring & fall clean-up for a Norfolk property, we spell out exactly what you get. So there are no surprises on the invoice, and no corners cut where you cannot see them.

Spring clean-ups run March through May and fall clean-ups late October through early December, booked by the visit with a written price.

The crew clears every lawn area, bed and hardscape surface, cuts back perennials and grasses and edges the beds so they are ready for mulch.

03

Prep the lawn

We rake or dethatch matted areas, remove the debris and give the lawn its first or last cut of the season at the right height.

04

Haul it away

Everything leaves on our truck the same day. No curb piles, no bags waiting for pickup, no mess.

What drives the price

Honest answer: we price spring & fall clean-up in Norfolk, MA by the job rather than off a rate card. Why? Because no two properties are the same. Generally, anyone who quotes a firm price over the phone without seeing the site is guessing. That guess usually turns into a change order later. So here are a few of the things that move the price up or down:

Property size and the amount of tree cover dropping leaves

How much bed area needs cutting back and edging

Whether the property needs routine work or a recovery visit

Add-ons like gutter clearing, dethatching or first mulch

When to schedule Spring & Fall Clean-Up in Norfolk, MA

Spring clean-ups book fastest for late March and April, and fall clean-ups for the first two weeks of November once the oaks finally drop. If you want a specific week, reach out a month ahead. If the property needs a recovery clean-up, any time the ground is workable is the right time to start.

Signs it’s time to call

  • Last year’s leaves still cover the lawn
  • Beds are full of dead stalks and winter debris
  • You are two weekends behind and the neighbors have noticed
  • You want the property reset before a new lawn or planting project

Why choose Ten Four for Spring & Fall Clean-Up in Norfolk, MA

Certainly, plenty of people will quote you spring & fall clean-up in Norfolk. But here is what you get with Ten Four Landscape & Construction that you do not get everywhere else:

  • A working visit, not a drive-by — beds cut back, lawn raked, hardscape cleared, everything hauled.

The job might be near Highland Lake, around Norfolk Center or out on the roads toward Millis and Medfield. Either way, we treat Norfolk like our own town, because for several of our crew it is.

Spring & Fall Clean-Up questions from Norfolk, MA customers

How much does spring & fall clean-up cost in Norfolk, MA?
It depends on the size of the property, site access and the materials involved, as well as the season. Estimates for spring & fall clean-up in Norfolk, MA are free and in writing. Seth also walks the property with you first, so the number reflects the real job, not a guess.
When should I schedule a spring clean-up?
As soon as the ground is dry enough to walk on without leaving ruts, usually late March into April. Earlier is better so the lawn is clear before it starts growing.
Do you do more than one fall visit?
Yes. Properties with heavy oak cover often need two visits, one in early November and one after the last leaves drop. We will recommend what your property needs.
Do you take the debris with you?
Always. Leaves, cut-back material and sticks leave on our truck the same day.

Norfolk history and geography

History

Norfolk is a suburban town on the periphery of metropolitan Boston, located on an upper valley of the Charles River. The land was originally part of Dedham, which was incorporated in 1636. There were a half dozen small farms in the area after 1669, the result of a determined effort to populate the colonial frontier, despite the remoteness of the area. Wrentham separated from Dedham in 1673; what is now Norfolk was in the northern part of Wrentham. The farms were abandoned during King Philip's War in 1675–76, but repopulated later that century.
As further settlement occurred in the late 17th and 18th centuries, agriculture and cattle grazing were joined by lumbering and planting of orchards. Small villages formed around sawmills and gristmills including City Mills (1680), Mann Pond/Highland Lake (after 1691), and Pondville (after 1730). The village center of North Wrentham formed in the late 18th century. After 1812, three cotton manufacturing companies were established at Stony Brook, and later in the 19th century George Campbell's paper mill was opened at Highland Lake making heavy wrapping and building papers. The Norfolk County Railroad opened in 1849, with North Wrentham station near the village center. North Wrentham separated from Wrentham in 1870 and was incorporated as Norfolk.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 15.2 square miles (39 km²), of which 14.8 square miles (38 km²) is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 km²) (2.30%) is water.

Infrastructure

The Town of Norfolk instituted a Department of Public Works in 2004 which consolidated much of its infrastructure and is now responsible for eight divisions. These Divisions are Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Solid Waste, Highways, Trees, Vehicle Maintenance and Grounds which are all managed by a Director.
The Norfolk Airpark (FAA airport code 32M) had one 2,700-foot (820 m) north–south runway and is about 2 miles (3 km) west of the town center. In recent years, however, the airpark has been closed down and is currently in a state of disrepair. A seven house cul-de-sac known as Tailwind Cir now exists where the hangars used to stand while the remaining airport property is now conservation land known as Leland Wild.
