Landscaper service in Bellingham, MA

A clean-up is where the whole season starts, or where it quietly falls apart

Looking for spring & fall clean-up in Bellingham, MA? Ten Four Landscape & Construction has handled it for homeowners, business owners and property managers across Norfolk County since 2012. Our Wrentham yard is also about fifteen minutes away.

Spring and fall clean-ups are the two visits that set up everything else. A spring clean-up that misses the thatch, the matted leaves and the winter debris means a slow, patchy lawn and beds that fight weeds all summer. A fall clean-up that leaves leaves on the grass means snow mold, dead patches and a mess to deal with in April. Bellingham homeowners have relied on us as their local landscaper for years. So we bring that same approach to every spring & fall clean-up job in town.

We treat a clean-up as a working visit, not a leaf-blowing drive-by. We cut back and edge every bed, rake or dethatch every lawn area as needed, clear gutters and hardscape on request, and haul everything away the same day. You get a property that looks reset and a lawn that is ready for the next step, whether that is fertilizer, seeding or the first mow.

Why Bellingham, MA homeowners call Ten Four for Spring & Fall Clean-Up

Bellingham stretches from the North Bellingham and Caryville villages on the Charles River down to the neighborhoods off Route 126 and Route 140. Interstate 495 also runs right through the middle of town. Most of our Bellingham work is residential: split-levels and colonials from the 1960s through the 1990s, newer developments off Hartford Avenue and Lake Street, and homes around Silver Lake. We also care for commercial properties on the Route 126 retail strip that need dependable year-round care.

Bellingham soils are generally sandier and stonier than the towns east of us, with fast-draining outwash near the Charles River and its ponds and heavier till on the uplands. Fast drainage sounds like a good thing until the lawn browns out in a dry July and the mulch beds bake. So soil building, watering habits and the right plant choices matter more here than almost anywhere else we work.

Spring & Fall Clean-Up benefits for Bellingham, MA properties

  • The lawn greens up faster and more evenly in spring
  • Beds are ready for mulch and planting instead of full of debris
  • You prevent snow mold, matted grass and dead spots before they start
  • The property looks finished twice a year, at the moments it matters most
  • Debris is gone the same day, not sitting at the curb

Problems we fix most often

Most people in Bellingham call us about spring & fall clean-up because something has already gone wrong. Others, meanwhile, want to make sure it never does. In short, these are the issues we see most often. Every one of them is also preventable when we do the work right the first time:

  • Leaves left on the lawn over winter, causing snow mold and dead spots
  • A quick blow-and-go that leaves matted debris in the beds
  • Perennials and ornamental grasses never cut back, so beds look ragged by May
  • Piles left at the curb for weeks because nobody hauled them
  • Sticks, cones and winter debris chewed up by the first mow
  • Gutters and drains clogged with leaves and overflowing onto walkways

What’s included

  • Leaf and debris removal from lawns, beds and hardscape
  • Cutting back perennials, grasses and spent growth
  • Bed edging and light pruning as appropriate for the season
  • Raking or dethatching matted lawn areas
  • First or final mow of the season
  • Same-day haul-away of all debris

Above all, every one of those items is part of the price we quote, not an upsell. When we scope spring & fall clean-up for a Bellingham property, we spell out exactly what you get. So there are no surprises on the invoice, and no corners cut where you cannot see them.

How Spring & Fall Clean-Up works in Bellingham, MA

We keep the process simple and predictable so you always know what is happening and what comes next. Here is how a spring & fall clean-up job runs in Bellingham, MA with Ten Four, from the first call to the final walkthrough. The owner is also reachable at every step.

01

Schedule the visit

Spring clean-ups run March through May and fall clean-ups late October through early December, booked by the visit with a written price.

02

Clear and cut back

The crew clears every lawn area, bed and hardscape surface, cuts back perennials and grasses and edges the beds so they are ready for mulch.

03

Prep the lawn

We rake or dethatch matted areas, remove the debris and give the lawn its first or last cut of the season at the right height.

04

Haul it away

Everything leaves on our truck the same day. No curb piles, no bags waiting for pickup, no mess.

What drives the price

Honest answer: we price spring & fall clean-up in Bellingham, MA by the job rather than off a rate card. Why? Because no two properties are the same. Generally, anyone who quotes a firm price over the phone without seeing the site is guessing. That guess usually turns into a change order later. So here are a few of the things that move the price up or down:

Property size and the amount of tree cover dropping leaves

How much bed area needs cutting back and edging

Whether the property needs routine work or a recovery visit

Add-ons like gutter clearing, dethatching or first mulch

When to schedule Spring & Fall Clean-Up in Bellingham, MA

Spring clean-ups book fastest for late March and April, and fall clean-ups for the first two weeks of November once the oaks finally drop. If you want a specific week, reach out a month ahead. If the property needs a recovery clean-up, any time the ground is workable is the right time to start.

Signs it’s time to call

  • Last year’s leaves still cover the lawn
  • Beds are full of dead stalks and winter debris
  • You are two weekends behind and the neighbors have noticed
  • You want the property reset before a new lawn or planting project

Certainly, plenty of people will quote you spring & fall clean-up in Bellingham. But here is what you get with Ten Four Landscape & Construction that you do not get everywhere else:

Spring & Fall Clean-Up questions from Bellingham, MA customers

How much does spring & fall clean-up cost in Bellingham, MA?
It depends on the size of the property, site access and the materials involved, as well as the season. Estimates for spring & fall clean-up in Bellingham, MA are free and in writing. Seth also walks the property with you first, so the number reflects the real job, not a guess.
When should I schedule a spring clean-up?
As soon as the ground is dry enough to walk on without leaving ruts, usually late March into April. Earlier is better so the lawn is clear before it starts growing.
Do you do more than one fall visit?
Yes. Properties with heavy oak cover often need two visits, one in early November and one after the last leaves drop. We will recommend what your property needs.
Do you take the debris with you?
Always. Leaves, cut-back material and sticks leave on our truck the same day.

Bellingham history and geography

History

The area of the town south of the Charles River constituted the southwestern corner of the Dedham Grant, which sprouted much of what has become Norfolk County. The land was swampy, and the town of Dedham did not believe it worthy of settlement. The area north of the river would be purchased by Edward Rawson, and due to the settlement of borders with the surrounding communities, these two areas would eventually merge. Most of the land to be called Bellingham was originally a portion of Dedham.
The first land bought in Bellingham that was Dedham was purchased in 1696 by a man who believed that that government is best which governs least. By 1713, there were enough citizens to warrant village meetings in the area. By 1718, the village petitioned for separation, and the town officially incorporated on November 27, 1719. The village was originally named "Westham" (short for "West Dedham"), but at the time of incorporation, its name was changed to Bellingham without record of the benefactor. The town is named for Richard Bellingham, an early governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
The town was founded with a Pilgrim (Congregationalist) meeting house, like all the towns in the colony at the time. However, this church would dissolve before the middle of the century, replaced with a Baptist church. John Leland, a Baptist minister, who was a major supporter of James Madison and the First Amendment to the Constitution, was baptized in Bellingham's Baptist church in 1775.

Geography and transportation

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 19.0 square miles (49.2 km²), of which 18.5 square miles (47.9 km²) is land and 0.5 square mile (1.3 km) (2.58%) is water. The town's mean elevation is 293 feet (89 m) above sea level.
Bellingham is located at the southwestern corner of Norfolk County, just northwest of the northeastern corner of Rhode Island. It is bordered by Medway on the north, Franklin to the east, Wrentham to the southeast; Woonsocket, Rhode Island, on the south; and Blackstone, Hopedale and Mendon to the west, and Milford to the northwest. Bellingham is 23 miles (37 km) southeast of Worcester, 30 miles (50 km) southwest of Boston, and 20 miles (30 km) north of Providence.

Education

As of 2024, there are two elementary schools (Stallbrook, and DiPietro), one middle school (Bellingham Memorial), and two high schools (Bellingham High School and Keough Memorial Academy). The Clara Macy Elementary school was closed before the start of the 2015–2016 school year and was demolished the following year. The children who attended Clara Macy school in the 2014–2015 school year were divided geographically between the remaining two elementary schools. Joseph F. DiPietro Elementary School was formally known as South Elementary school for the majority of its history.
In 2019, Bellingham High School ranked 205 in Massachusetts as a result many families elect to school choice to nearby towns of Medway and Holliston or go to private and technical schools, Tri-County in Franklin, Blackstone Valley Tech in Upton, and Mount St. Charles in Woonsocket, RI. Bellingham High's sports teams have competed in the Tri-Valley League since the leagues induction in 1966. Bellingham is known for producing good baseball, softball and football teams and are not considered an easy win in other sports by the other members of the league.
