Landscaper service in Bellingham, MA

You should not have to choose between the back yard and Lyme disease

Looking for mosquito & tick spraying in Bellingham, MA? Ten Four Landscape & Construction has handled it for homeowners, business owners and property managers across Norfolk County since 2012. Our Wrentham yard is also about fifteen minutes away.

Mosquito and tick spraying is a health service as much as a comfort one. Norfolk County has some of the highest tick-borne disease rates in the state, and mosquitoes make a summer evening on the patio miserable. Most properties here back up to exactly the woods, stone walls and wetlands where both thrive. Bellingham homeowners have relied on us as their local landscaper for years. So we bring that same approach to every mosquito & tick spraying job in town.

We apply a barrier treatment to the places that matter: the wood line, brush, tall grass edges, stone walls and under decks. The treatment also covers the foundation plantings and the shady, damp spots mosquitoes rest in during the day. We time treatments every three to four weeks from late spring through the first frost. You can also add an early-season and late-fall tick treatment to catch the nymphs and adults when they are most active.

Why Bellingham, MA homeowners call Ten Four for Mosquito & Tick Spraying

Bellingham stretches from the North Bellingham and Caryville villages on the Charles River down to the neighborhoods off Route 126 and Route 140. Interstate 495 also runs right through the middle of town. Most of our Bellingham work is residential: split-levels and colonials from the 1960s through the 1990s, newer developments off Hartford Avenue and Lake Street, and homes around Silver Lake. We also care for commercial properties on the Route 126 retail strip that need dependable year-round care.

Bellingham soils are generally sandier and stonier than the towns east of us, with fast-draining outwash near the Charles River and its ponds and heavier till on the uplands. Fast drainage sounds like a good thing until the lawn browns out in a dry July and the mulch beds bake. So soil building, watering habits and the right plant choices matter more here than almost anywhere else we work.

Mosquito & Tick Spraying benefits for Bellingham, MA properties

  • Dramatically fewer mosquitoes on the patio and in the yard
  • Far fewer ticks, which means lower risk of Lyme and other diseases
  • A yard the whole family actually uses all summer
  • Treatments targeted to habitat, not sprayed everywhere
  • Local crew, licensed applicators, one schedule

Problems we fix most often

Most people in Bellingham call us about mosquito & tick spraying because something has already gone wrong. Others, meanwhile, want to make sure it never does. In short, these are the issues we see most often. Every one of them is also preventable when we do the work right the first time:

  • Mosquitoes driving everyone inside by seven in the evening
  • Ticks on the kids and the dog after every trip into the yard
  • A property that backs up to woods, wetlands or stone walls
  • Store-bought foggers that work for a day
  • Worry about Lyme, anaplasmosis and EEE in this part of the state
  • Not knowing what is safe around children, pets and the vegetable garden

What’s included

  • Property inspection to find breeding and resting areas
  • Barrier treatment of wood lines, brush, walls and shady beds
  • Treatments every three to four weeks through the season
  • Early spring and late fall tick-focused applications
  • Advice on standing water, leaf litter and habitat reduction
  • Optional treatment before parties and events

Above all, every one of those items is part of the price we quote, not an upsell. When we scope mosquito & tick spraying for a Bellingham property, we spell out exactly what you get. So there are no surprises on the invoice, and no corners cut where you cannot see them.

How Mosquito & Tick Spraying works in Bellingham, MA

We keep the process simple and predictable so you always know what is happening and what comes next. Here is how a mosquito & tick spraying job runs in Bellingham, MA with Ten Four, from the first call to the final walkthrough. The owner is also reachable at every step.

01

Inspect the property

We find where mosquitoes rest and ticks wait: wood lines, stone walls, leaf litter, tall grass, under decks and standing water.

02

Treat the barrier

A targeted application to those areas, not a blanket spray of the whole lawn, applied by a trained crew following the label.

03

Repeat on schedule

Every three to four weeks from May into October, plus tick applications timed to the nymph and adult seasons.

04

Reduce the habitat

We point out the gutters, buckets, leaf piles and brush that breed and harbor pests so the treatments work even better.

What drives the price

Honest answer: we price mosquito & tick spraying in Bellingham, MA by the job rather than off a rate card. Why? Because no two properties are the same. Generally, anyone who quotes a firm price over the phone without seeing the site is guessing. That guess usually turns into a change order later. So here are a few of the things that move the price up or down:

Property size and the length of wood line and edge to treat

Number of treatments in the season

Add-on tick applications or event treatments

Bundling with a maintenance program

When to schedule Mosquito & Tick Spraying in Bellingham, MA

Tick treatments start as early as April when nymphs become active, and mosquito treatments run from mid-May through the first hard frost in October. Signing up before the season starts means the first treatment goes down before the population explodes. We can schedule special event treatments with a few days notice.

Signs it’s time to call

  • You cannot sit outside after dinner without the bugs eating you alive
  • Ticks are showing up on family members or pets
  • The property borders woods, wetlands, tall grass or stone walls
  • You want the yard safe for kids and pets this summer

Bellingham history and geography

History

The area of the town south of the Charles River constituted the southwestern corner of the Dedham Grant, which sprouted much of what has become Norfolk County. The land was swampy, and the town of Dedham did not believe it worthy of settlement. The area north of the river would be purchased by Edward Rawson, and due to the settlement of borders with the surrounding communities, these two areas would eventually merge. Most of the land to be called Bellingham was originally a portion of Dedham.
The first land bought in Bellingham that was Dedham was purchased in 1696 by a man who believed that that government is best which governs least. By 1713, there were enough citizens to warrant village meetings in the area. By 1718, the village petitioned for separation, and the town officially incorporated on November 27, 1719. The village was originally named "Westham" (short for "West Dedham"), but at the time of incorporation, its name was changed to Bellingham without record of the benefactor. The town is named for Richard Bellingham, an early governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
The town was founded with a Pilgrim (Congregationalist) meeting house, like all the towns in the colony at the time. However, this church would dissolve before the middle of the century, replaced with a Baptist church. John Leland, a Baptist minister, who was a major supporter of James Madison and the First Amendment to the Constitution, was baptized in Bellingham's Baptist church in 1775.

Geography and transportation

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 19.0 square miles (49.2 km²), of which 18.5 square miles (47.9 km²) is land and 0.5 square mile (1.3 km) (2.58%) is water. The town's mean elevation is 293 feet (89 m) above sea level.
Bellingham is located at the southwestern corner of Norfolk County, just northwest of the northeastern corner of Rhode Island. It is bordered by Medway on the north, Franklin to the east, Wrentham to the southeast; Woonsocket, Rhode Island, on the south; and Blackstone, Hopedale and Mendon to the west, and Milford to the northwest. Bellingham is 23 miles (37 km) southeast of Worcester, 30 miles (50 km) southwest of Boston, and 20 miles (30 km) north of Providence.

Education

As of 2024, there are two elementary schools (Stallbrook, and DiPietro), one middle school (Bellingham Memorial), and two high schools (Bellingham High School and Keough Memorial Academy). The Clara Macy Elementary school was closed before the start of the 2015–2016 school year and was demolished the following year. The children who attended Clara Macy school in the 2014–2015 school year were divided geographically between the remaining two elementary schools. Joseph F. DiPietro Elementary School was formally known as South Elementary school for the majority of its history.
In 2019, Bellingham High School ranked 205 in Massachusetts as a result many families elect to school choice to nearby towns of Medway and Holliston or go to private and technical schools, Tri-County in Franklin, Blackstone Valley Tech in Upton, and Mount St. Charles in Woonsocket, RI. Bellingham High's sports teams have competed in the Tri-Valley League since the leagues induction in 1966. Bellingham is known for producing good baseball, softball and football teams and are not considered an easy win in other sports by the other members of the league.
