A lawn program only works if every application is on time

Looking for fertilizer programs in Bellingham, MA? Ten Four Landscape & Construction has handled it for homeowners, business owners and property managers across Norfolk County since 2012. Our Wrentham yard is also about fifteen minutes away.

A fertilizer program is the difference between a lawn that survives the season and one that people notice. Most bagged programs and national franchises apply the same product on the same date everywhere. The grass in Wrentham, Franklin and Foxboro does not grow on a national schedule. Bellingham homeowners have relied on us as their local landscaper for years. So we bring that same approach to every fertilizer programs job in town.

We build the program around soil testing, the grass types on the property and how you use the lawn. We time each application to soil temperature and growth, not the week of the month. So pre-emergent goes down before crabgrass germinates, and grub control goes down when it actually works. We apply it ourselves, on the same visits as mowing where possible, so nothing slips through.

Why Bellingham, MA homeowners call Ten Four for Fertilizer Programs

Bellingham stretches from the North Bellingham and Caryville villages on the Charles River down to the neighborhoods off Route 126 and Route 140. Interstate 495 also runs right through the middle of town. Most of our Bellingham work is residential: split-levels and colonials from the 1960s through the 1990s, newer developments off Hartford Avenue and Lake Street, and homes around Silver Lake. We also care for commercial properties on the Route 126 retail strip that need dependable year-round care.

Bellingham soils are generally sandier and stonier than the towns east of us, with fast-draining outwash near the Charles River and its ponds and heavier till on the uplands. Fast drainage sounds like a good thing until the lawn browns out in a dry July and the mulch beds bake. So soil building, watering habits and the right plant choices matter more here than almost anywhere else we work.

Fertilizer Programs benefits for Bellingham, MA properties

  • A thicker, greener lawn that holds color through the summer
  • Crabgrass and broadleaf weeds prevented instead of fought
  • Grub control that stops damage before it destroys the lawn
  • Soil corrected so fertilizer actually works
  • One local crew doing the applications and seeing the results

Problems we fix most often

Most people in Bellingham call us about fertilizer programs because something has already gone wrong. Others, meanwhile, want to make sure it never does. In short, these are the issues we see most often. Every one of them is also preventable when we do the work right the first time:

  • Crabgrass every summer because the pre-emergent went down too late
  • Grubs tearing up the lawn in September after a missed application
  • Burned stripes and streaks from careless application
  • A lawn that looks fed in May and starved by August
  • Moss and thin grass from acidic soil nobody ever limed
  • Paying a national franchise that never sees the lawn between visits

What’s included

  • Soil testing to set lime and nutrient needs
  • Early spring feed with crabgrass pre-emergent
  • Late spring feed with broadleaf weed control
  • Preventive grub control at the right timing
  • Early and late fall feedings for root growth
  • Lime applications as the soil test calls for

Above all, every one of those items is part of the price we quote, not an upsell. When we scope fertilizer programs for a Bellingham property, we spell out exactly what you get. So there are no surprises on the invoice, and no corners cut where you cannot see them.

How Fertilizer Programs works in Bellingham, MA

We keep the process simple and predictable so you always know what is happening and what comes next. Here is how a fertilizer programs job runs in Bellingham, MA with Ten Four, from the first call to the final walkthrough. The owner is also reachable at every step.

01

Test the soil

We check pH and nutrients so the program matches the property. Most lawns around here need lime, and no amount of fertilizer fixes acidic soil.

02

Build the schedule

Five to six applications timed to soil temperature and growth, written out so you know what is coming and when.

03

Apply on time

Our crew applies each treatment on schedule. Pre-emergent before crabgrass germinates, grub control when it works, winterizer after growth slows.

04

Adjust and report

If a lawn is not responding, we find out why and adjust, whether that is watering, mowing height, shade or soil, and we tell you what we see.

What drives the price

Honest answer: we price fertilizer programs in Bellingham, MA by the job rather than off a rate card. Why? Because no two properties are the same. Generally, anyone who quotes a firm price over the phone without seeing the site is guessing. That guess usually turns into a change order later. So here are a few of the things that move the price up or down:

Lawn square footage

Number of applications in the program

Whether you add lime, overseeding or fungicide

Bundling with mowing and maintenance

When to schedule Fertilizer Programs in Bellingham, MA

The first application goes down in late March or April as soil temperatures rise, and the last one in November. You can join mid-season, but the earlier the program starts, the better the lawn holds up in August. Sign up over the winter to lock in the first spring application.

Signs it’s time to call

  • Crabgrass and clover take over every summer
  • The lawn thins out and browns by August no matter how much you water it
  • Grub damage or skunks digging in the lawn each fall
  • Moss in shady areas and pale, slow-growing grass

Why choose Ten Four for Fertilizer Programs in Bellingham, MA

Certainly, plenty of people will quote you fertilizer programs in Bellingham. But here is what you get with Ten Four Landscape & Construction that you do not get everywhere else:

  • Built for local soil — tested, limed and timed for Norfolk County, not a national calendar.

Fertilizer Programs questions from Bellingham, MA customers

How much do fertilizer programs cost in Bellingham, MA?
It depends on the size of the property, site access and the materials involved, as well as the season. Estimates for fertilizer programs in Bellingham, MA are free and in writing. Seth also walks the property with you first, so the number reflects the real job, not a guess.
How many applications are in the program?
Five to six, depending on the lawn: early spring, late spring, summer grub control, early fall, late fall winterizer, and lime if the soil test calls for it.
Is the program safe for kids and pets?
We use products labeled for residential lawns and follow every label instruction. Keep kids and pets off the lawn until the application dries or you water it in as directed, usually a few hours.
Do I still need to water?
Yes. Fertilizer cannot replace water. We will tell you how much and how often based on the season and your soil.

More Fertilizer Programs questions, answered

Can you fix a lawn full of weeds?
Usually, over one to two seasons. Weed control plus feeding and overseeding thickens the grass so weeds lose the space they need.
Do you apply lime?
Yes, based on a soil test. Most lawns in this area are acidic and need it, and it is one of the most cost-effective things you can do.
What about grubs?
Preventive grub control goes down in early summer, before the grubs hatch. If damage has already started, we treat it and repair the lawn.

Bellingham history and geography

History

The area of the town south of the Charles River constituted the southwestern corner of the Dedham Grant, which sprouted much of what has become Norfolk County. The land was swampy, and the town of Dedham did not believe it worthy of settlement. The area north of the river would be purchased by Edward Rawson, and due to the settlement of borders with the surrounding communities, these two areas would eventually merge. Most of the land to be called Bellingham was originally a portion of Dedham.
The first land bought in Bellingham that was Dedham was purchased in 1696 by a man who believed that that government is best which governs least. By 1713, there were enough citizens to warrant village meetings in the area. By 1718, the village petitioned for separation, and the town officially incorporated on November 27, 1719. The village was originally named "Westham" (short for "West Dedham"), but at the time of incorporation, its name was changed to Bellingham without record of the benefactor. The town is named for Richard Bellingham, an early governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
The town was founded with a Pilgrim (Congregationalist) meeting house, like all the towns in the colony at the time. However, this church would dissolve before the middle of the century, replaced with a Baptist church. John Leland, a Baptist minister, who was a major supporter of James Madison and the First Amendment to the Constitution, was baptized in Bellingham's Baptist church in 1775.

Geography and transportation

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 19.0 square miles (49.2 km²), of which 18.5 square miles (47.9 km²) is land and 0.5 square mile (1.3 km) (2.58%) is water. The town's mean elevation is 293 feet (89 m) above sea level.
Bellingham is located at the southwestern corner of Norfolk County, just northwest of the northeastern corner of Rhode Island. It is bordered by Medway on the north, Franklin to the east, Wrentham to the southeast; Woonsocket, Rhode Island, on the south; and Blackstone, Hopedale and Mendon to the west, and Milford to the northwest. Bellingham is 23 miles (37 km) southeast of Worcester, 30 miles (50 km) southwest of Boston, and 20 miles (30 km) north of Providence.

Education

As of 2024, there are two elementary schools (Stallbrook, and DiPietro), one middle school (Bellingham Memorial), and two high schools (Bellingham High School and Keough Memorial Academy). The Clara Macy Elementary school was closed before the start of the 2015–2016 school year and was demolished the following year. The children who attended Clara Macy school in the 2014–2015 school year were divided geographically between the remaining two elementary schools. Joseph F. DiPietro Elementary School was formally known as South Elementary school for the majority of its history.
In 2019, Bellingham High School ranked 205 in Massachusetts as a result many families elect to school choice to nearby towns of Medway and Holliston or go to private and technical schools, Tri-County in Franklin, Blackstone Valley Tech in Upton, and Mount St. Charles in Woonsocket, RI. Bellingham High's sports teams have competed in the Tri-Valley League since the leagues induction in 1966. Bellingham is known for producing good baseball, softball and football teams and are not considered an easy win in other sports by the other members of the league.
